Concert dedicated to Yuri Davtyan to take place at Yerevan Opera

A concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of honorable conductor Yuri Davtyan will take place at A. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet theater on the 31th of October. According to press office of the theater, the evening will feature soloists, choir and the orchestra of Yerevan opera under the baton of Yuri Davtyan, Constantine Orbelian, Harutyun Arzumanyan, Atanes Arakelyan and Hayk Davtyan.   

Yuri Davtyan was born in Vanadzor, in 1929. He studied  conducting at Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas in 1947-52 (class of K Saradjev and G. Tigranov). From 1953 he worked at A. Spendiarian Opera and Ballet theater in position of principal conductor. He conducted “Artsvabert” by A. Babaev, “Davit Bek” by A. Tigranyan, “Almast” by A. Spendiarian etc. In 1962-63 famous conductor took master class from Prof. Markevich. In 1964-66 he worked in position of principal conductor of Saratov opera. In 1966-70 and 1992-94 he was head of Symphony orchestra Armenian radio and TV comitee. He performed with number of orchestras in the Soviet Union. He performed in many European countries and USA and launched many discs. Today he holds position of principal conductor at H. Paronyan State comedy theater.
