Gevorg Hakobyan's "Arias of Love & Sorrow" CD presentation to be held in Yerevan
The presentation of the CD "Arias of Love & Sorrow" (Arias of Love & Sorrow) Gevorg Hakobyan, the leading soloist of A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theater will be held at the special event hall of the theater on July 27.

The CD was recorded by the American DELOS label on January 27, 2023, and has already been highly praised by a number of prestigious international critics. Armenian Bation perform with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of conductor and ex-music director of the Metropolitan Opera  John Fisher, and the principal conductor of the orchestra Constantine Orbelyan, under whose initiative and patronage the CD was recorded.

Three unusual selections in Armenian – including Mosi’s Aria from Anoush, the most important opera in the Armenian language – enhance this debut recording. Drawing from favorite operas such as Verdi’s Otello and Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades, Arias of Love & Sorrow joins recent Delos releases including Oksana Dyka’s In Questa Reggia, Oksana Volkova’s Poison D’Amour and Kristian Benedikt’s Tenore di forza in bringing new and captivating voices to fans of opera.

The April issue of Gramophone Magazine featured a review for Gevorg Hakobyan, Constantine Orbelian, John Fisher, and the Kaunas City Symphony’s Arias of Love & Sorrow: "Gevorg Hakobyan is a name new to me but, as this album suggests, he is clearly a fine singer: a dramatic baritone with a grand, powerful voice – smooth, open-grained and imposing – and a grand, powerful manner to match it. … There’s a heartfelt passion to his Aleko, and the Prince Igor aria builds up a real dramatic momentum. The Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky arias are no less involving, with the latter showing Hakobyan’s gift for vivid storytelling. And there’s no resisting the big-hearted pride that he brings to the Armenian numbers… there’s much to enjoy in this impressive showcase of a powerful, persuasive singer".

Let us remind you, that the first CD of the Armenian artist was recorded in 2015, which included Armenian classical romances.
