Belgian-based Ashot Khachatourian to perform two concerts in homeland
Belgian-based Armenian pianist Ashot Khachatourian will have two concerts in Armenia. According to the website of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the pianist's first performance will take place on February 2 at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall with Anush Nikoghosyan (violin), Hayk Ter-Hovhannisyan (viola), Sevak Avanesyan (cello), Hayk Khachatryan (double bass). The program includes Schubert's "Trout" quintet, Beethoven'scello sonata n. 2, and Violin sonata n. 5. Proceeds from the concert will be doubled by the musicians and will be used to buy a grand piano for the Komitas Music School in Stepanakert.
Ashot Khachatourian's second concert will take place on February 4 with ANPO where the pianist and the orchestra will perform Beethoven's piano concerto No. 3 , and in the second part of the concert, the orchestra will perform the same composer's Symphony No. 2.
Ashot Khachatourian has known the Armenian audience since 2011 at the Return Classical Music Festival. Within the festival, he had a recital and performed with A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater orchestra.
