Living in Jazzland: Concert tribute to David Azaryan
On May 14, at 7:00 p.m. “Aram Khachaturian” Concert Hall will host a concert dedicated to the 70th birthday anniversary of a jazz musician, pianist, and composer David Azaryan. The concert is entitled “Living in Jazzland”, the eponymous name of Azaryan's CD.
The concert is organized by the State Philharmonia of Armenia with the support of the ESCS Ministry of Armenia.
David Azaryan has been a member of jazz ensembles since 1983 and founded a jazz trio, in which he has performed in a number of countries. He had lived in the United States since 1989. He has taught at Berkeley College of Music in Boston, Long School of Music, Brown University in Providence, Cambridge School of Music, and more. He has performed in Russia, Germany, Poland, as well as in leading US concert halls. Azaryan's musical heritage includes jazz compositions, and theatrical and cartoon music. Azaryan was a laureate of a number of international competitions. He died in 2003.
