Russian composer and conductor Sergey Vasilenko's memories about Alexander Spendiaryan:
“I remember the arrival of Spendiaryan for the Jubilee Concert organized by the Armenian association. Early morning the phone rang:
-Seryoja, I’m desperated... It is the general rehearsal before the concert, but there are only two double basses in the orchestra, no trombones, and just one tuba…Please, tell me what to do?
- Dear Sasha, I don’t know how to help you.
- Give him an aspirin, - our parrot shouted from another room. We laughed together.
Spendiaryan’s Jubilee Concert passed quite successfully. It was my last meeting with that wonderful composer and wonderful person”.
