Event programs dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ohan Durian are announced
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous musician and conductor Ohan Durian. On this occasion, a press conference with participation of Ara Khzmalyan, the deputy minister of ESCS, Eduard Topchjan, artistic director and principal conductor of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, other members of the jubilee committee, public and cultural figure Vahan Vardapetyan, Hovhannes Movsisyan, executive director of the Public Television of Armenia, the executive director of the Public Radio Company of Armenia, Garegin Khumaryan, and the chairman of the "Republic" party, Aram Sargsyan, presented the entire list of events dedicated to the maestro.
As mentioned on the website of the Ministry of ESCS, Vahan Vardapetyan presented the preparatory works, the process, and the program of the jubilee events.
On September 8, the birthday of Ohan Durian, at 12:00, a tribute will be paid to the memory of the maestro at Komitas Pantheon. On the same day, at 7:00 p.m., an unprecedented surprise concert is planned in the "Aram Khachatryan" concert hall under the direction of Eduard Topchjan. The 14th Yerevan International Music Festival, which will be dedicated to the conductor, will start with this concert.
On September 13, at 7:00 p.m., a magnificent ceremony will take place at Komitas Museum-Institute. A silver commemorative coin dedicated to Ohan Durian will be issued by the Central Bank, also a stamp will be put into circulation by the "Hay Post".
In France, the Audiovisual International Organization is releasing a collection of 11 albums under the title "Gems of World Music", which also includes the works of Ohan Durian. Ohan Durian was also a French citizen of France.
Getik Baghdasaryan is creating a statue of Durian, which should be installed close to the Opera house.
According to Hovhannes Movsisyan, the executive director of the Armenian Public Television Company, the Public Television Company will reflect on the 100th anniversary with a lot of air time in three different directions. First of all, exclusive archive videos will be published, secondly, Stas Namin's 2006. The film dedicated to Ohan Durian is being developed and translated into Armenian. It will air at the end of November. And third, all events dedicated to the 100th anniversary will be actively broadcast.
Public Radio of Armenia also has rich archive. They have been digitized it and are now available to everyone. According to the executive director, Garegin Khumaryan, a complete collection of O. Durian's works will be released soon.
