The program for the implementation of the pilot model of financing theater and concert organizations was approved
The "Program for Introducing a Pilot Model of Financing Theater and Concert Organizations" has been approved by the government. The government adopted the draft decision because "A. Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet" needs to provide quality circumstances to ensure the organization's normal operation.
The new funding model, which is proposed to be piloted in Yerevan Opera, entails the state distributing additional funding to the organization, up to 100% of the organization's own revenue from ticket sales in a given year, for the staging of new and transformed versions of previous performances. The model also anticipates that the organization will receive additional funding each year.
The method also envisions the organization receiving more money for its own income created by the organization, with a set percentage ratio, to ensure the adoption of new performances each year. Providing funds from the RA government's reserve fund will allow for the production of two new and remodeled productions in 2023, contributing to the growth of own income and promoting the production of new productions with own funds in the following years, making the production of new productions a continuous process. The implementation of a new model for financing theater and concert groups will open up new opportunities for art-loving people in Armenia and abroad to perform with outstanding stage abilities and publicize Armenian art.
