Winner of Aram Khachaturian Competition announced in Yerevan
Tomotaka Seki, a Japanese violinist, earned the first prize at the 20th Khachaturian International Competition.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Sergei Mkrtchian of Russia finished second, with Japan's Rio Arai taking third.
The winner of the first prize received $10,000 in cash.
The winner will also have the opportunity to play a concert with an orchestra during the 2025-2026 concert season.
The violinist who came in second place received $5,000, while the winner of third place received $3,000.
The head of the jury will be the world-famous violinist and professor of Armenian origin from Spain, Zohrab Tadevosyan. The jury of the 20th Khachaturian International Competition also joined by Professor Ana Chumachenko, world-famous Armenian violinist, an honored artist of the Republic of Armenia, Sergey Khachatryan, violinist and prominent professor Koh Gabriel Kameda, Romanian violinist and principal conductor, Péter Csaba, renowned violinist and professor Vera Tsu Weiling, a popular Austrian violinist of Hungarian roots Eszter Haffner.
