During the jubilee season, the Yerevan Opera to launch new projects
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theater. The jubilee theater season will launch in Vanadzor.
On this occasion, a press conference with the participation of Deputy Minister of ESCS Ara Khzmalyan, the musical director and conductor of the performance Karen Durgaryan and the director's chief advisor, chief producer Shmavon Grigoryan was held today in the basement of the opera house.
Ara Khzmalyan congratulated his colleagues on the opening of the theater's 90th jubilee season, noting that having an opera and ballet theater shows that the country is a communicator of pan-European cultural realities and a member of that big family.
"Personally, this eventful step of theater management is really a celebration for me. The opening of the jubilee theater season of such an important structure in the region indicates the decentralization of cultural life. Every citizen of RA, regardless of the place of residence and social status, has the right to be related to the cultural life," Khzmalyan said.
The 90th jubilee theater season of the Theater starts on September 2 in with Tigranyan's "Anoush" at Vanadzor H. Abelyan State Drama Theater. The "Three Sopranos" concert will take place the next day at Vanadzor Charles Aznavour Cultural center.
"I am sure that the audience of Vanadzor will be happy to see the work of the great Tumanyan in an operatic staging," said Durgaryan, emphasizing the implementation of regional programs. According to him, preparations have already started and the decorations will soon be moved to Vanadzor.
Karen Durgaryan informed that the jubilee events are planned not only in Armenia but also Abroad. In this theater season, Armenian composers' works will be premiered, and invited directors and ballet masters will stage new performances.
The speakers also referred to the place of the press conference, the basement of the theater, where construction works were underway. According to Durgaryan, the jubilee year is not only the performance but also the process of an organization. "The theater is a process, and we organized the press conference here to make sure of it. This space can become a rehearsal room, but also a platform where young creators will be able to show their thoughts, express themselves fully."
"I have great hope that in the near future this environment, this basement platform, will become a true center of cultural exploration and experimentation. We will do everything to make it so," Ara Khzmalyan said.
Presenting the current activities of the opera house, Durgaryan noted that the creation of passports for theater performances is in the final stage.
