“Yerevan Nights”: An Open-Air Concert Series in Yerevan’s Parks
With the support of the Yerevan Municipality and on the initiative of the Cantata NGO, the “Yerevan Nights” open-air concert series will take place in Yerevan’s parks, offering residents and visitors six concerts featuring classical and jazz music.
The program aims to make music more accessible to a wider audience by bringing classical and jazz performances into the city’s open-air spaces. The concerts will be held in different parks across Yerevan from August 25 through September 14.
The classical program will feature the Cantata Ensemble and soloist of the A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater, Varsenik Avanyan (mezzo-soprano).
The ensemble includes Elena Vardazaryan on piano, Gayane Abrahamyan on violin, and Garnik Yengibaryan on cello.
The audience will hear works by Armenian and international composers, including A. Dolukhanyan’s Yerevan Nights, A. Harutyunyan’s Sing for Me and Vocalise, R. Melikyan’s Beautiful Night, as well as works by Erik Satie, Francis Poulenc, Vincenzo Ciara, Reynaldo Hahn, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Astor Piazzolla, and Ludwig van Beethoven.
The classical concerts will take place:
August 25 — Mergelyan Park
August 31 — Lovers’ Park
September 14 — Vahagn Davtyan Park
The jazz program will feature Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Hayrapetyan’s “Armenian Colours” jazz group and the “Yerevan–New York” jazz quartet.
The “Armenian Colours” group consists of:
Vahagn Hayrapetyan — piano and vocals,
Avag Margaryan — traditional Armenian instruments,
Mikhail Fominikh — double bass,
Karen Kocharyan — drums.
The “Yerevan–New York” jazz quartet consists of:
Vahagn Hayrapetyan — piano and vocals,
Zeyd Nasser — alto saxophone,
Ari Roland — double bass,
Keith Balla — drums.
The audience will hear Vahagn Hayrapetyan’s original jazz arrangements based on Armenian folk music and works by Armenian composers, as well as renowned jazz standards.
The jazz concerts will take place:
August 26 — Vahagn Davtyan Park
August 27 — Lovers’ Park
September 11 — Mergelyan Park
The program will also feature a dance duet by Marianna Poghosyan and Ara Asaturyan.
All concerts start at 8:00 PM. Admission is free.
