Biography

Meri Khojayan has won numerous awards and prizes. Among others, she won first prize in the Luigi Nono International Chamber Music Competition (Torino, 2021), first prize in Baden-Württemberg’s "Musical Fireworks" Competition (Germany, 2017), first prize in the Henry Koch Violin Competition (Belgium, 2013), a special prize in the Third Yankelevich International Violin Competition (Russia, 2013), Music Awards Maastricht (Netherlands, 2012), and second prize (first not awarded) in the Khachaturian Violin Competition (Yerevan, Armenia, 2008).

Her primary education was with Eduard Tadevosyan and Boris Belkin, supplemented by masterclasses from Leonidas Kavakos, Trio di Parma, Wim Zwaag, Jaques Ogg, Maxim Vengerov, Michael Frischenschlager, Irina Bochkova, Zakhar Bron, and Enrico Bronzi. From 2018-2023, Meri took monthly chamber music masterclasses from Lukas Hagen and Enrico Pace.

Beginning her career early, Meri has toured extensively and received many accolades. At seventeen, she won the 'President’s Prize,' presented by the third President of the Republic of Armenia, for her cultural achievements.

Currently, Meri plays on a Christian Wilhelm Knopf, generously loaned by the Dutch Musical Instrument Foundation. She filmed a biographical documentary about Pablo Sarasate, which attracted international press such as "Codalario," "Diario de Navarra," "The Violin Channel," "Mundo Clásico," and various international film festivals. The highlight was the "Film Flicks Festival" in London (UK), where the documentary won the "Best Biographical Film" title.

In November 2023, Meri Khojayan, released a CD album, "Complete Works for Violin and Piano of Sergei Prokofiev," under the label Aliud Records. The Spanish magazine "Scherzo" described the CD as impassible, highlighting Khojayan’s playing for its elevated lyric temperament.

In 2024, Meri relocated to Granada, where she joined the Spanish string quartet Cuarteto Nazarí.
