Concert dedicated to Armenian composers held under the baton of V. Gergiev
A concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of three People's Artists of the USSR, composers - Alexander Arutyunian, Arno Babajanyan, and Edward Mirzoyan took place at the Zaryadye Hall, Moscow.
The works of Armenian composers were performed by one of the oldest music collectives in Russia - the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra led by People's Artist of the Russian Federation, maestro Valery Gergiev. Especially for this occasion, musicians came to Moscow from St. Petersburg. Maestro Gergiev was personally acquainted with all these three composers.
“These names are sacred for any Armenian, they are known far beyond the borders of Armenia, their music sounded in all continents. I was lucky, being a very young conductor, not only to know but also to make friends with them " Valery Gergiev says.
The concert was organized by the “Arno Babajanyan Memorial Fund” and the Valery Gergiev Charity Foundation. The project was also supported by the Commission of Russia for UNESCO.
