Khachaturian International Competition to be held in "Conducting" professional category

On June 6, the birthday of the great Armenian composer, conductor, and People's Artist of the USSR, Aram Khachaturian, will mark the kickoff of the 21st International Competition in Yerevan. This event, supported by the Ministry of ESCS, will take place in the "Conducting" professional category. The goal of the international competition, organized by the "Aram Khachaturian" Cultural Foundation, is to discover young and talented musicians while popularizing the musical heritage of Aram Khachaturian.

At the opening ceremony, the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia, under the direction of conductor Sergey Smbatyan, will present Aram Khachaturian's favorite works: excerpts from the ballet "Spartacus" and the Violin Concerto (soloist: violinist Ning Feng). This year, 18 conductors selected by the jury from 12 countries around the world will participate in the competition: France, Argentina, Armenia, USA, South Korea, Latvia, Taiwan, Australia, China, Canada, Great Britain, and Japan.

The Khachaturian Competition jury includes world-renowned members such as George Pehlivanian, Vag Papian, Darrell Ang, Ni Fan, Vassily Sinaisky, Ruben Jais, and Piotr Sułkowski. The jury will be chaired by the esteemed conductor Vassily Sinaisky, who has led some of the world's foremost orchestras and opera houses and has held significant positions in prestigious musical institutions.

It is important to note that one of the mandatory requirements of the competition is the performance of Aram Khachaturian's works. The winner will be announced on June 12 during the award ceremony and gala concert. The strategic sponsor of the Khachaturian Competition is Freedom Broker Armenia. The competition is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC).
