After 30 years of hiatus "The Dragonfly and the Ant" is staged in Yerevan Opera
The ballet "The Dragonfly and the Ant" premiered at the A. Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. The event was attended by Zhanna Andreasyan, the Republic of Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, and Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan. It was produced in collaboration with the Opera Theatre and the Yerevan State Choreographic College.

The performance features around 70 students from the Yerevan State Choreographic College. It was performed in two dance styles: modern dance (for ants) and ballet (for dragonflies, beetles, and forest dwellers).  

Stepan Lusikyan’s ballet “The Dragonfly and the Ant” in two acts is the first premiere of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in 2025. This ballet was staged back in the 1990s by the renowned ballet master Maxim Martirosyan. Thirty years later, at the initiative of Maestro Durgaryan, it has returned to the stage with a new spirit.

The musical director and conductor of the performance is Karen Durgaryan (Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia); the conductors are Atanes Arakelyan and Raffi Mikaelyan. The directing ballet master and libretto author is Davit Galstyan; the production designer is Avetis Barseghyan (Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia); the costume designer is Rubine Hovhannisyan; lighting design is by Yevgeny Ganzburg; and 3D animation is by Vahan Hovhannisyan.
