Armenian composer and music producer Andranik Berberyan has recently returned from the United States, filled with unforgettable impressions, important professional meetings, and historical events. His visit to Los Angeles and California was connected to a series of cultural initiatives, each opening a new chapter in the international presence of Armenian art.

One of the most important milestones of this visit is that Andranik Berberyan is currently participating, as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in the voting process for the 2026 Academy Awards. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 15 in Los Angeles. This marks an important step not only in his professional career but also for Armenian music and cinema, ensuring for the first time the active participation of an Armenian composer in the decision-making process of the world’s most prestigious film awards.
As part of the visit, the world premiere of a new cinematic work dedicated to one of Armenia’s most powerful and influential historical figures also took place. On October 18, 2025, the documentary film “Tigran the Great: Between East and West” had its world premiere in California. The film, with music composed by Andranik Berberyan, combines elements of documentary and narrative cinema to honor the historical legacy of King Tigran II the Great. The special screening was held at the AGBU Pasadena Performing Arts Center.

Berberyan’s creative period in California continued with another major cultural event. On November 9, the Armenian National Dance Ensemble “BERD” presented a large-scale live performance at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
For the opening of the concert, Andranik Berberyan composed an epic Armenian folkloric suite, uniting national melodic thinking with deep historical roots. The opening musical segment was met with great emotion by the audience, becoming one of the emotional highlights of the evening.

All of these events once again highlight the powerful potential of Armenian art to stand confidently on the world’s leading cultural stages, representing its identity with dignity. According to Andranik Berberyan, his goal is to continue creating projects that serve as bridges between Armenia and the global film industry, where the sound of Armenian music unites cultures.

“I attended the evening together with Arman Nshanian, and it was truly special. The atmosphere was sincere and warm, and one could clearly feel the power and diversity of world cinema. I met wonderful people. In particular, I had been in contact for months with the remarkable Lisbeth Scott, and it was during that evening that I learned she also has Armenian roots. That discovery was deeply moving,” Berberyan noted.
