ANPO opened event series dedicated to Aram Khachaturian's 120th anniversary
Yesterday, on June 5, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (artistic director and chief conductor Eduard Topchyan) opened the annual celebrations of Aram Khachaturian's 120th birthday. The day began with the washing of Khachaturian's statue, in the evening the guests of the concert hall were awaited by a flash mob, the dance performance of Walsz from Khachaturian's "Masquerade" suite.

On that day, Khachaturian's "Spartacus" ballet suite, "Ceremony Poem" and Symphony No. 2 were performed in the concert hall, with a bright and emotional interpretation by the famous American-Armenian conductor George Pehlivanian, who will keep the audience in their hearts for a long time.

And until late at night on the roof of the "Aram Khachaturian" concert hall, composers' work's jazz arrangements were performed by Vahagn Hayrapetyan and the Armenian Colors Quartet in the open air.
Throughout the year, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia will present the entire palette of Khachatryan's works to Armenian and foreign audiences both in the capital of Armenia, in the regions, and during foreign tours.

The "15th Yerevan International Music Festival" of the National Philharmonic, which will be opened in September, is dedicated to Khachaturian's 120th birthday. In the framework of the festival, in addition to the concerts with the participation of various famous soloists and conductors, there will be an unprecedented tour of the regions of Armenia with the world-famous violinist Sergey Khachatryan. The orchestra will perform in Meghri, Goris, Kapan, Gyumri with concerts, and of course, Yerevan will not be neglected either.

The geography of the tours of the National Philharmonic Orchestra during the Khachaturian year is as follows: USA, Canada, Greece. Particularly significant is the concert taking place on November 15 at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, where violinist Sergey Khachatryan will perform as a soloist under the direction of Eduard Topchyan, artistic director and chief conductor of the National Philharmonic.
