Navasard Hakobyan is a finalist in the "Operalia" competition
The renowned tenor Plácido Domingo's 30th "Operalia" competition is finishing in Cape Town, South Africa. In the "Opera" category, 11 singers went to the final round, including Armenian baritone Navasard Hakobyan. Besides, our candidate will compete in the "Zarzuela" category. The finals will be held on November 5.
A total of 34 young vocalists from all over the world participated in this contest, including bass-baritone Hovhannes Karapetyan from Armenia, who was among the semi-finalists.
Operalia was founded in 1993 by Plácido Domingo to discover and help launch the careers of the most promising young opera singers of today. Sopranos Juliana Grigoryan and Mane Galoyan are among the laureates of the prestigious competition.
