The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia opens the 99th concert season
The 99th concert season of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra will be launched on September 12, with the 16th Yerevan International Music Festival (artistic directors: Eduard Topchjan and Harold Clarkson).
This year's festival guests include the legendary opera singer Plácido Domingo, famous musicians Daniel Müller-Schott (cello), Hrachuhi Bassenz (soprano), Helmut Deutsch (piano), Caroline Widmann (violin), Barry Douglas (piano), Juliana Grigoryan (soprano), Ingo Metzmacher (conductor), Ilyich Rivas (conductor), and others.
The famous violinist Arabella Steinbacher will perform at the opening of the festival on September 12 at the "Aram Khachaturian" concert hall. He will perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto under the direction of maestro Eduard Topchjan. Smetana's "Vltava" from the symphonic poem "My Fatherland", as well as Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 will also be performed.
During the 16th Yerevan International Music Festival, the works of Czech composers Dvorak, Smetana, Janacek, Marek Keprt, Lubos Fischer are in the center of attention. In addition to grand symphonic programs, chamber music will also be performed during the festival, performed by the "Avetis" string quartet and pianist Hayk Melikyan.
A number of Armenian and world premieres and master classes of guest musicians will take place during the festival.
The closing of the 16th Yerevan International Music Festival will take place on October 30.
The event is supported by the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports and the Yerevan Municipality.
