Sergey Khachatryan wins German Record Critics Award
Sergey Khachatryan won German Record Critics Award for Eugène Ysaÿe's 6 Sonatas album. The Armenian violinist is the first to have recorded the 6 Sonatas Op. 27 on Eugène Ysaÿe's personal Guarneri del Gesù violin. 156 critics of the PdSK, divided into 32 specialist juries, have surveyed all new releases of audio recordings on the market from the last quarter and put 280 titles on the longlist. From this pool of nominees, 28 winning titles have made it onto the critic’s choice list. Sergey Khachatryan's album is the best in the Chamber Music Category.

Eugène Ysaÿe's set of Six Sonatas for solo violin, Op. 27, was written in July 1923. Each sonata was dedicated to one of Ysaÿe’s contemporary violinists: Joseph Szigeti (No. 1), Jacques Thibaud (No. 2), George Enescu (No. 3), Fritz Kreisler (No. 4), Mathieu Crickboom (No. 5), and Manuel Quiroga (No. 6).
