World premiere of Eduard Hayrapetyan's “The Wind” to be held at Urvakan festival
The world premiere of “The Wind” by Eduard Hayrapetyan will be held on September 23 in the Beethoven Concert Hall of the Armenian Composers’ Union Resort performed by Ensemble Assonance. The ensemble will perform headed by conductor Artur Akshelyan.

"The order and idea of “The Wind” by Eduard Hayrapetyan was born in Dilijan itself, in that same concert hall, where Mr. Hayrapetyan was composing new pieces, and the Urvakan team went for the first time to study the area and get to know the environment. It should be noted that the idea of ordering compositions to modern composers has a systemic nature in Urvakan. Year after year, we will contribute to the creation of even more works by Armenian composers, as well as their publicization and international recognition. It is one of the important missions of our festival. Our goals and actions stem from one logic: to provide progress and new opportunities for professional composers who always strive to do more and create good works," -the organizers of the festival noted.

In addition to Hayrapetyan's composition, Lockdown [Notifications.exe II] for amplified cello by Sergey Umroyan (2020), {re}-receiving-{set} for string quartet (2018) by Ruben Antonyan, Inter(re)actions for violin, cello and piano (2019) by Aram Hovhannisyan will be presented during the concert.

The Ensemble Assonance was formed in 2018 in Yerevan, Armenia as a unique group primarily aimed at the performance of lesser-known works of contemporary and classical music. The main mission of the ensemble is to familiarize the Armenian audience with the current developments in the international music scene. The collaboration with educational institutions and festivals as well as the promotion of the new music are among the main goals of the ensemble. The Assonance is a resident ensemble at the international festival "Crossroads" Contemporary music days in Armenia by QuarterTone.
The ensemble consists of well-known local performers whose professional experience makes it possible to represent a wide array of musical styles. Flutist Narek Avagyan, violinists Ani Karapetyan and Iveta Korkina, clarinetist Arsen Grigoryan, violist Mary Dolmazyan, cellist Mikayel Navasardyan, pianists Anahit Dilbaryan and Hripsime Aghakaryan perform in the ensemble.

"It is a great honor for us to perform within the framework of the Urvakan Festival. The festival is so unique; it brings together various musical genres under one roof. As the only musical ensemble performing modern music in Armenia, we will present the compositions of modern Armenian composers to the audience with great enthusiasm. We are sure, the compositions will be interesting both to the locals and to the audience who came to Armenia, especially for the festival,"- the director of the ensemble Ruben Antonyan noted.

Urvakan Festival, which is coming back on September 23–25, is organized outside the capital this year. This time, the festival will take place at a very special venue in Dilijan - the Armenian Composers’ Union Resort, thus contributing to the realization of cultural events in regions and promoting the development and activation of regional life. The offering is vast yet focused on core concepts — reconceiving and transcending genres from contemporary, electronic, and electroacoustic music to folk, noise, militant dub, underground rap, and everything in between.

Educational labs, workshops, and round table discussions will also be held within the framework of the festival.
