Yerevan Municipality organizes ballet shows dedicated to Aram Khachaturian’s 120th anniversary
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, Yerevan Municipality initiated an exclusive cultural project. Khachaturian’s ballet compositions are performed on the stage installed in Tumo Park. The first ballet was “Gayane” performed by the ballet dancers and the orchestra of the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after A. Spendiaryan.

The project is the first one not only in the cultural life of the city but in the region as well. More than 500 participants are involved in the project.

Deputy Mayors Tigran Avinyan and Stepan Machyan, members of the Council of Elders, and art figures were present at the event together with hundreds of townsfolks and guests of the capital.

As Tigran Avinyan marked, today Khachatrian’s compositions can be enjoyed in a completely different environment – in one of the cozy nooks of our hometown instead of a concert hall. Besides being a unique composer, Khachaturian is also Armenia’s ambassador throughout the world. Despite living most of his life outside Armenia, Khachatruyan was able to show the rich cultural heritage of our homeland through his music. On June 7 ballet lovers enjoyed  “Masquerade”,
on June 8, “Spartacus" will be performed.
