It is important that their voices are given a platform: Edgardo Vertanessian
The project aims to provide Armenian musicians with an additional consistent opportunity to record and release digitally on all major global streaming platforms. We wish to empower emerging and well-established Armenian artists by offering financial and non-financial resources to record, post-produce, release, and distribute recordings on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more than 80 international platforms, as well as advertising support.
The shortlist for the “Beginner Musicians” program (ages 18-28) has already been announced. Following a highly competitive selection process, the list includes the following musicians: pianists Gayane Aslanyan, Shushan Arevshatyan, Gur Sargsyan, Suren Babayan, Ruben Kozin; oboist Hayk Hekekyan; and cellist Narek Hekekyan. The selection was made by the Prima Classic label and its co-founder Edgardo Vertanesyan, who also established a special award for guitarist Vahan Sargsyan.
"Armenians have been an important component of our Western and Christian traditions since the beginning of time, and have gone through incredible hardships whose consequences are still felt today, very vividly. It is important that their voices are given a platform—in this case, their musical voices—and that we help their people to continue to pursue excellence in their artistic expressions." – Edgardo Vertanessian, CEO & Co-Founder, Prima Classic Record Label said in his interview.
Elena Yakovleva, General Director and Co-Founder of the Primavera Foundation of Armenia, believes that: “This project will inspire young musicians to further develop and popularize their performing arts. We are doing everything we can to ensure easy and comprehensive access to Armenian music for a global audience, revealing to them the mastery of Armenian musicians on all the international platforms they know.”
