The soundtrack for "The Other Side of the Medal" composed by Andranik Berberyan
Director Anna Maxim's (Anna Harutyunyan) film "The Other Side of the Medal" was released in cinemas on September 12. The film "The Other Side of the Medal" is a sports drama about the life and amazing athletic career of world champion and two-time European champion weightlifter Nazik Avdalyan. The soundtrack for the film was composed by Andranik Berberyan. Berberyan composed the music for the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships opening ceremony, which encouraged him to make music for a sports film. According to him, symphonic-rock fusion was chosen as the film's musical genre to reflect the drama of the weightlifting competition and the fantastic plot. The music has dramatic aspects unique to the film, which evoke such emotions, thanks to which the viewer relives the stages of Avdalyan's dramatic life, shown in the movie.
"Before this collaboration, we knew Anna. Anna was at the European Weightlifting Championship's opening ceremony, and after hearing the music, she offered to work on the film. During our collaboration, I recognized Anna as a creator who understands the interconnectedness of film and music, and as a result, our creative process went extremely smoothly," says Andranik Berberyan. According to Berberyan, this partnership is unusual in that he composed the music for the first Armenian artistic sports drama, which marks a new beginning in the development of such a genre, and he was attracted by it.
