A concert dedicated to Vahagn Stamboltsyan to be held in Yerevan and Charentsavan
The National Chamber Music Center will present a concert dedicated to the 90th birthday of the great Armenian organist, the founder of the Armenian Organ School, Vahagn Stamboltsyan. An evening of organ music will be held on Stamboltsyan's birthday, on April 19, at 7:00 p.m., at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall. Organists Arthur Adamyan, Lusin Saradjyan, Anna Bakunts, Harutyun Tagvoryan, Teresa Voskanyan, Karine Hovhannisyan, David Hovhannisyan, Marina Nahapetyan, soloists of the ancient music ensemble "Tagharan" Galina Tsolakyan (soprano) as well as soprano Chchyan Narek Avagyan (flute) will perform within the evening. Program: J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel, Komitas, M. Yekmalyan, E. Yerkanyan.
On the same day, a concert dedicated to Vahagn Stamboltsyan will take place in Charentsavan. Organists Vahagn Margaryan and Armen Aghajanyan will perform in the organ hall of the A. Khachaturian Music School.
Pedagogue, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia, "St. Mesrop Mashtots-Sahak Partev" medal awardee Vahagn Stamboltsyan greatly contributed to the spread of organ art in Armenia. The repertoire included works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Handel, Christapor Kushnaryan, Haro Stepanyan, Tigran Mansuryan, and others. For the first time, Stamboltsyan played the hymns of Nerses Shnorhali, Khachatur Taronatsi, Grigor Magistros Pahlavuni on the organ (adapted by Komitas and Ekmalyan and with his own transcription).
For the first time on April 24-25, 1965 in Soviet Armenia, Vahagn Stamboltsyan, together with Lusine Zakaryan performed a Commemoration concert dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Thanks to Vahagn Stamboltsyan, the Armenian spiritual songs have been included in the list of program performances of many European organists.
