Concert dedicated to Tigran the Great to be presented in Armenia
A major international musical project honoring King Tigran the Great will be presented on June 16 at the international music festival "Palaces of Saint Petersburg" in Yerevan, directed by the renowned Russian musician Maria Safaryants. The Tigran the Great narrative will be told in the evening in the square next to Zvartnots Cathedral.
The Russian and Italian opera theater performers will take on the roles of Cleopatra, Mihrdat, Tigran the Great, and other heroes for the music festival's grand opening. Numerous operas have been dedicated to Tigran the Great throughout history.
The Neapolitan music library provided exclusive notes from the operas of the greatest Italian composers, including Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Pergolesi, and Piccini, especially for this project. Prominent soloists from Russian and European stages take part in the concert: bass Boris Stepanov, an honored artist of Russia; soprano Marina Zyatkova, winner of international and Russian contests; and soloist Karen Akopov of the Mikhailovsky Theater. Aurelio Schiavoni, the renowned Italian countertenor, will also perform during the concert. Christian Delizo will lead a chamber orchestra that will accompany the concert. The program will also feature a performance by the well-known violinist and festival creative director, Maria Safaryants. Gevorg Dabaghyan, an Armenian duduk player and People's Artist will also perform in the concert.
