Event dedicated to A. Spendiaryan's 155 anniversary takes place in Moscow

With the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, an event dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the birth of composer Alexander Spendiaryan, founder of Armenian classical symphonic music, was held at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation.

An international documentary exhibition entitled “Encounters at the Lazarev Institute” was opened in the Lazaryan Hall. It presents the life and creative work of Alexander Spendiaryan, as well as notable facts about the meeting between renowned Armenian composers Alexander Spendiaryan and Aram Khachaturian, which took place in the building of the Lazarev Institute. As part of the event, Marine Otaryan, Director of the Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum, delivered a video presentation on the subject. She was awarded an honorary commemorative medal by the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation for her significant contribution to the preservation of Armenian and Russian cultural heritage. Inessa Khachatryan, Head of the Exhibitions and Educational Programs Department of the House-Museum, and Anna Kocharyan, Education Programs Coordinator, as well as the musicians of the Khachaturian Trio - Armine Grigoryan, Karen Shahgaldyan, and Karen Kocharyan were presented with diplomas.

The program also featured a concert, with the Khachaturian Trio performing works by Alexander Spendiaryan and Aram Khachaturian.

The Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum organized the event in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Armenia in the Russian Federation, headed by Vladimir Gabbe.

Members of the diplomatic mission, prominent figures in the arts and culture, intellectuals, directors of partner museums, and other guests attended the event.
