Concert “Music, Love, Freedom” dedicated to Armenia and Bulgaria took place in Sofia
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, there was a concert “Music, Love, Freedom” in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, organized by AGBU Sofia. This was the debut concert of the Armenian-British tenor and conductor Sipan Olah in Sofia, Bulgaria, with the AGBU Sofia Chamber Orchestra under the baton of maestro Levon Manukyan, with the participation of talented soprano Hayarpi Yeghikyan.
The concert was dedicated to Armenia and Bulgaria and took place at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia. According to the announcement, Armenian and Bulgarian musicians had been preparing this spectacular concert project for more than 10 months, and the result was splendid.
The concert started with an opening speech by Levon Manukyan, who presented his orchestra and guest Armenian musicians from the UK. He also spoke about the difficult situation in Armenia and Artsakh.
Sipan Olah expressed his gratitude to the AGBU Sofia team and Sonia Avakian for their efforts and for organizing this unforgettable evening, which united Armenians and Bulgarians around high arts and classical music during these difficult times.
Sonia Avakian delivered her closing speech and thanked all the musicians from the orchestra and maestro Levon Manukyan for their fantastic performance. She spoke about the devastating situation in Armenia and Artsakh and mentioned that our unity is the most important thing in those difficult times. She expressed her admiration for Sipan Olah’s devoted work and mission to preserve and perform pieces by Armenian composers worldwide and handed certificates of gratitude and honorable membership from AGBU Sofia to Sipan Olah and Hayarpi Yeghikyan.
Board members of AGBU, representatives from the Embassy of Armenia in Bulgaria, representatives of the Bulgarian Government, members of Armenian and Bulgarian organizations, musicians and professors from the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, and music lovers were present at the concert.
