12th stop of Foofwa d'Imobilité's Dancewalk is Yerevan
Within the first international SUMMEET international dance festival in Armenia, Armenians will have the opportunity to be a part of the Dancewalk project implemented by Swiss choreographer Foofwa d'Imobilité.
Dancewalk is a dance-journey, stretched for miles and hours, held in the city or in the lap of nature. This is a dance phrase in the space of time, where dance becomes geography and human becomes a part of the landscape. Foofwa d'Imobilité uses running as an inspiration for staging, combining dance, performance, and sports.
Today, on August 25, at 5:30 p.m. the choreographer will perform YEREVAN PEACE DANCEWALK. It will start from Misak Manushyan Park, pass through Mashtots Avenue underpass, then through Mashtots Park, Pavstos Buzand Street, then Republic Square, where the dancer will walk around the Dancing fountains, and then will go to Arno Babajanyan Monument, where the RA Police Orchestra will join him. After passing through Northern Avenue, he will walk near Swan Lake and enter Freedom Square.
YEREVAN PEACE DANCEWALK is a call for peace for our country, which has gone through war.
The project will continue on August 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the Small Theater of the National Center of Aesthetics, where "Dancewalk - Retrospective" - a dance walk created for the stage will be presented to the Armenian art lovers. "Dancewalk - Retrospective" is a report on 850 km of dance performed in 50 dance routes around the world. Surrounded by a video projection, dancer Alizée Sourbé shows on stage audiovisual dance walks held in public places by Foofwa d'Imobilité and others.
Thanks to this performance, the audience together with musicians, dancers, artists, professionals travels around 11 countries and 34 regions: Switzerland, France, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Iran, Mali, Burkina Faso, South Africa, India, China and Armenia.
YEREVAN PEACE DANCEWALK is accompanied by a parallel translation by Ara Asaturyan.
