New exhibit at Aram Khachaturian House-Museum
The number of exhibits in Aram Khachaturian House-Museum has increased by one. Now visitors will have the opportunity to see the death mask of the composer, created by Nikoghos Nikoghosyan, Academician of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, People's Artist of the USSR. Before that, it was kept in the master's studio.
There was a long-standing friendship between composer Aram Khachatryan and sculptor, painter Nikoghos Nikoghosyan. Receiving the news of the death of his great friend, Nikoghos Nikoghosyan considered it his duty to create the posthumous mask of the composer.
After the sculptor's death, while the Aram Khachaturian Trio was performing at the "Niko" Gallery, the trio's pianist, director of the Aram Khachaturian House-Museum, Armine Grigoryan met with the director of the gallery, the sculptor's daughter Gayane Nikoghosyan, and they agreed to transfer the mask to Yerevan and display at composers house-museum.
