9th edition of Edward Mirzoyan Competition to be held in May
With the support of the RA Ministry of ESCS and on the initiative of the Composers' Union of Armenia, the 9th edition of the Edward Mirzoyan Competition of young composers will be held from May 10 to 13, in Yerevan.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Cultural Foundation of the Composers' Union of Armenia and the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.
Like last 8 years, this year's Mirzoyan contest will be open for Armenian composers under the age of 18. Representatives of the junior group (up to 13 years old) must submit 1 work written for up to 2 instruments (maximum 10 minutes), and the members of the senior group (14-18 years old) must submit 1 work written for up to 4 instruments (maximum) 15 minutes duration).
The competition stage will be held on May 10 at 5:00 p.m. at Composers Union concert hall. The gala concert and award ceremony will take place on May 13 at the same place, again at 5:00 p.m.
All participants will be awarded certificates of participation, gifts, and the opportunity to record their pieces at YKSC Acoustic Laboratory. The winners of the competition will also be awarded diplomas and trophies. There will also be a cash prize for the winners of both groups as well as their teachers.
