A. Spendiaryan 150: Unique exibition opened at National Library of Armenia
A unique temporary exhibition entitled "The Founder of Armenian Classical Symphony Music" has opened in the large exhibition hall of the National Library of Armenia. It is implemented by the joint efforts of  A. Spendiaryan House-Museum, Museum of Typography of the National Library of Armenia, and Y. Charents Museum of Literature and Art within of the European Heritage launched in Armenia on September 25. Exclusively original materials related to Alexander Spendiaryan were presented: photos, letters, concert brochures, programs, first editions of works, literature dedicated to the composer's life and creative path, CDs, records, posters.

According to the director of the house-museum Marine Otaryan, this exhibition is an opportunity to once again reveal the high value and universal significance of Spendiaryan's works.

"At the beginning of the 20th century, Spendiaryan's works were performed in Russia and in almost all Western European countries. The legacy of the composer is based on European values. He brought it with him to Armenia, building a unique bridge between Armenian and European music," Marine Otaryan emphasized.

Astghik Harutyunyan, the chief fundraiser of the Spendiaryan House-Museum, presented the original materials temporarily displayed in the museum. In the selection of the exhibited materials, emphasis was placed on the dissemination and evaluation of Spendiaryan's works in the European environment, the performance of his works by prominent European musicians, conductors and singers. Materials dedicated to Spendiaryan's legacy were presented - concert activities especially in major European cities - Berlin, Milan, Rome, Warsaw, Paris, Riga, Helsingfors (Helsinki), where his works were performed during the composer's lifetime.

The director of Spendiaryan House-Museum Marine Otaryan and the director of the National Library of Armenia Anna Chulyan highly assessed the trilateral inter-museum cooperation, adding that such initiatives will be continuous.
