Olga Gabayan,  Prominent Opera Artist Passed Away
At the age of 85, Olga Gabayan, People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR and a distinguished representative of opera art, has passed away.

With her exceptional voice, refined performances, and unique stage presence, Olga Gabayan made a significant contribution to the development of Armenian opera. Her creative path was marked by dedication, high professional mastery, and an unwavering love for her national culture. For decades, she inspired audiences, educated new generations of artists, and earned deep respect and admiration.

Olga Gabayan was born on December 27, 1940, in Yerevan. In 1966, she graduated from the vocal department of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. From 1966 to 1994, she worked as a soloist at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1974, she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR, and in 1984, she received the title of People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR.

Since 1992, she  taught vocal art at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. In 2013, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor, and in 2015, Professor. In 2016, she was awarded the 2nd Class Medal “For Services to the Homeland.”

Olga Gabayan was one of the prominent representatives of Armenian opera, who for decades combined stage performance with pedagogical activity.
Her passing is a great loss not only for her family, relatives, and colleagues, but also for the entire cultural community. The bright memory of Olga Gabayan will forever remain in the history of Armenian musical art.
