Composer Sofia Gubaidulina passed away
The world-famous composer Sofia Gubaidulina died at the age of 94.

Gubaidulina was born in Chistopol in 1931. In 1954, she graduated from the Kazan Conservatory's piano department and, five years later, studied composition at the Moscow Conservatory.

In 1979, she was blacklisted as one of the "Khrennikov's Seven" at the Sixth Congress of the Union of Soviet Composers for writing “noisy mud instead of musical innovation, unconnected with real life".

Gubaidulina composed more than a hundred pieces for symphony orchestra, choirs, and ensembles and wrote soundtracks for 25 films.
Since 1992, the composer has lived in Germany.
