Francophonie Month Launched in Armenia withconcert of Tagharan
The Francophonie Month in Armenia has officially opened at the Komitas Chamber Music House with the concert program titled “Francophonic Tagharan” performed by the early music ensemble “Tagharan.”

Among the attendees were Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Ministers Artur Martirosyan and Daniel Danielyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisoghomonyan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia and President of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Armenia Eric de Muynck, as well as ambassadors of Francophone countries and other officials.
Welcoming the guests, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan stated:

“Cooperation with the International Organization of La Francophonie is one of the key directions of Armenia’s foreign policy, as also reflected in the Government’s five-year program. I am pleased to note that the 2027 Francophonie Cultural and Sports Games will be held in Yerevan. The Republic of Armenia will host around 4,000 participants from more than 50 delegations.”

This year’s events are united under the symbolic theme: “Armenia – Francophonie: Language, Culture, Peace and Solidarity.” According to the Minister, this message fully reflects the values that unite the Francophone community and to which Armenia is also committed.

The Minister emphasized that the French language is not only a means of communication but also a space for cultural encounter, dialogue, and solidarity.

“Our country continues to actively develop educational, cultural, and scientific cooperation with Francophone partners, promoting the spread of the French language, youth education, the expansion of cultural exchanges, and the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of science,” she noted.
According to her, both the scope and geography of Francophone events have expanded this year, with more than 1,150 events planned in Yerevan and across all regions of Armenia. The two-month program will feature a wide range of initiatives, including concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, conferences, and educational programs, contributing to the broader promotion of Francophone culture in Armenia and the establishment of new partnerships.

Zhanna Andreasyan also highlighted the symbolic significance of launching the program with music:
“Today’s concert, ‘Francophonic Tagharan,’ is performed by the early music ensemble ‘Tagharan.’ Music, like language, has a unique power to unite people. It brings individuals together through a universal language and creates a distinctive space for cultural dialogue. I am confident that this two-month program will become a platform for new ideas, creative cooperation, and the strengthening of friendships.”
Remarks were also delivered by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisoghomonyan and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia, President of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Armenia, Eric de Muynck.

The concert featured works by French composers. The Artistic Director and Conductor is Honored Cultural Figure of Armenia Sedrak Yerkanyan.
