Alban Gerhard had a masterclass with young, talented Armenian cellists
Famous cellist Alban Gerhard, winner of the BBC Music Magazine, International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), is in Armenia at the invitation of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Yesterday, on February 7, in the "Louise Manoogian-Simon" hall of the Khachaturian Concert Hall, Gerhard had a masterclass with young, talented Armenian cellists. Students of Yerevan Conservatory and Yerevan Music Schools Andranik Aghajanyan, Artyom Ioannisyan, Narek Hekekyan, Mikael Karakhanyan and Alex Grigoryan took part in the master class. Gerhard said he was pleasantly surprised by the young musician's' performance skills and talent.
Today, on February 8, the world-famous cellist will give a concert with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by maestro Eduard Topchjan. Gerhard will present one of the most beautiful works ever written, the Dvorak Cello Concerto, and in the second part, Beethoven's famous Symphony No. 5 will be performed.
