Bach-340: Interesting facts about composer

This year, the world celebrates Johann Sebastian Bach. On this occasion, Armenian National Music presents some interesting facts about the composer.

1. Bach came from a family of musicians, with his ancestors connected to music in various ways.

2. The composer had eight siblings. Bach's older brother, Johann Christoph, began teaching him music when he was 10 years old.

3. He was married twice and had 20 children, but only 12 survived.

4. Bach wrote more than 1,000 works, though none were operas.

5. Bach lived and composed in eight different cities.

6. Thanks to Bach's efforts, girls also began to sing in church choirs.

7. After Bach's death, his works fell into obscurity. For a long time, the location of his burial site was unknown until it was discovered by chance at the end of the 19th century.
