Karen Durgaryan appointed as Director of Yerevan Opera
On August 30, RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Ara Khzmalyan introduced Karen Durgaryan, the acting director of the A. Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, to the staff of the Theater, the press service of the Ministry of ESCS reports.
Ara Khzmalyan introduced Karen Durgaryan to the staff of Opera House, emphasizing that there is no need to present the maestro's activities in detail, as Karen Durgaryan has worked for many years at the Theater and knows the peculiarities of this theater very well. The Deputy Minister congratulated Karen Durgaryan wishing him good luck.
"Karen Durgaryan will be acting director during these months. In the upcoming months, all the tasks, priorities, and sequence of steps will be formulated. It is necessary to correctly assess the professional potential of the Theatre, to have a purposeful play policy that will contribute to the expansion of international cooperation, as it is clearly set before the newly appointed acting director - to mobilize not only the creative potential inside the opera house but also outside the theater.
We have well-deserved names whose experience and knowledge must be applied to the advancement of opera. I must emphasize that our demands towards the acting are quite strict, at the same time the executive power will fully support Maestro Durgaryan and the theater staff. We will work very closely, all possible issues will be discussed," said Ara Khzmalyan, thanking Karen Durgaryan for agreeing to run the opera house as a result of changing professional and personal priorities.
Karen Durgaryan, in his turn, thanked the staff of the theater for the work done by Konstantin Orbelyan and the cooperation carried out during this period.
