The first performance of Kaunas State Choir (artistic director and chief
conductor: Petras Bingelis) in Yerevan will take place at A. Spendiaryan Opera
and ballet theater on the 8th of November. The choir will present Requiem
by W.A. Mozart with Yerevan opera orchestra under the baton of Constantine
Orbelian. Soloists: Sofia Sayadyan (soprano), Sofia Tumanyan (mezzo-soprano), Hovahnnes
Ayvazyan (tenor), Zohrab Zohrabyan (bass).
The evening will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the choir’s
professional artistic activity. According to Choir's official site, the Requiem
was the first major classical piece performed by the collective at the
Lithuanian Philharmonic in 1971 together with Armenian soloists, Lisitsyan's
family members. After almost half a century Kaunas Choir will be visiting
Armenia and performing the same work with the Armenian Orchestra.
