The 100th Anniversary of Khachatur Avetisyan Celebrated with a Grand Jubilee Concert
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Khachatur Avetisyan, a distinguished figure of Armenian musical art, composer, educator, advocate of national instruments, and People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR.

As part of the jubilee celebrations, the National Center of Folk Music and Dance, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, organized a gala concert at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan attended the concert.

Performers included the State Song and Dance Ensemble of Armenia, the State Dance Ensemble of Armenia, the State Orchestra of National Instruments of Armenia, People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR Ruben Matevosyan, as well as singers Masha Mnjoyan, Vardan Badalyan, Monika Nazaryan, Davit Khachatryan, Arpine, and Arman Grigoryan.

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and through the initiative of the National Center of Folk Music and Dance in collaboration with 47.design, a commemorative medal dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Khachatur Avetisyan was issued in 2026.

As part of the concert, commemorative medals marking Khachatur Avetisyan’s 100th anniversary were awarded to cultural figures who have made significant contributions to the development of folk art. Among the recipients were singer and People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR Ruben Matevosyan, Honored Artist of Armenia and chief conductor of the State Orchestra of National Instruments of Armenia Norayr Davtyan, and Honored Cultural Figure of Armenia and artistic director of the dance division of the National Center of Folk Music and Dance Gagik Karapetyan.
