Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra performs in Yerevan
As part of the 100th anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, the world-renowned Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra, conducted by legendary conductor Valery Gergiev, performed an exclusive concert in Yerevan.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Science Daniel Danielyan, and representatives of the executive and legislative bodies.
The concert featured Arutiunian’s “Festive Overture,” Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 performed by virtuoso violinist Pavel Milyukov, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the participation of soprano Anna Denisova.
On October 2, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform again after 37 years at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall under the leadership of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Valery Gergiev. The works will include Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” symphonic suite, Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” and Ravel’s “Bolero.”
