Mikael Ayrapetyan: About 100 thousand people per month listen to Armenian classical music in 180 countries
An exceptional concert entitled “Secrets of Armenia” will be held on May 10 at Carnegie Hall. Pianist Mikael Ayrapetyan for the first time in the history of Armenia will perform the works of 24 Armenian composers in one of the best and most prestigious concert halls of the world.

“While studying at the graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory, I began to study the classical musical heritage of Armenian composers. Approach this issue from the position of a researcher. I was helped by my grandfather - Hrant Dmytryuk, a French horn player, a leading teacher in Armenia, who worked in a symphony orchestra in Yerevan all his life, and my stepfather - composer Artur Mitinyan, who helps me to contact relatives of composers and archives. This is how the Secrets of Armenia project was established in 2010,” Mikael Ayrapetyan says.

Secrets of Armenia is an International music project and concert agency of Mikael Ayrapetyan, dedicated to the discovery of classical music in Armenia. He revives the forgotten names of Armenian composers by recording and performing world premieres of a treasury of Armenian music. In the upcoming concert Armenian pianist will present works by Tchukhajian, Kara-Murza, Ekmalyan, Elmas, Korganov, Tigranian, Komitas, etc. Most of the pieces will be performed in the USA for the first time. The concert features the world premiere of Artur Mitinyan’s “Toccata”.

During the existence of the project, dozens of concerts were organized and performed in Armenia, Russia, Israel, European countries, China, and the USA. “At each of the concerts, I see how people change. How grateful they are for this work. And ready to come again”.

Ayrapetyan also cooperates with well-renowned Naxos, and a total of 14 albums were recorded under the Grand Piano label. These recordings are broadcasted on prestigious radio stations.

“The project has been in existence for 12 years. During this time, we have managed to reach the international level with its high standards, to conclude exclusive contracts with the leading classical music label Naxos, which releases our albums. We have managed to significantly expand our audience of Armenian classical music lovers. We have received recognition from the leading music critics of the world's classical music.

Now about 100 thousand people per month listen to Armenian classical music in 180 countries of the world. As a Secrets of Armenia Foundation CEO, I am extremely glad to be able to cooperate with such a major label that will distribute the music of Armenian composers around the world,” Ayrapetyan concludes.
