The music of the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship is based on Armenian history
Composer, conductor, and music producer Andranik Berberyan, who composed the music for the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship, was approached with great responsibility to perform such extensive work for the most important event for the country. Berberyan, who is the author of music for "Songs of Solomon", "Dream of Kafka", "Amerikatsi", " Aurora's Sunrise" and about 30 other films, was able to create music based on the history of Armenia in a short time.
"I am extremely proud and happy to have been a part of such a large-scale project and worked with director Naire Stepanyan. I composed approximately 45 minutes of show music, including this year's official anthem for the European Weightlifting Championships, which was entirely produced at Berberyan Productions Studios. By the way, the studio did the sound post-production of the entire ceremony, by Tigran Kuzikyan and a whole team. As for my music, I must say that the basis of my music was Armenian history, from the creation of our country to modern times. I went through different eras in my mind, inspired by our historical holes and heroic episodes to create impressive and appropriate music for the event. I hope that both the music and the anthem will help our athletes, and inspire them to reach heights․ I should also mention that Background Production is at the center of all this, represented by the main organizer and producer Vazgen Poghosyan, thanks to whom all this became real.", Andranik Berberyan says. According to him, he is happy that both the Armenian and international audiences did not remain indifferent to this work: it was possible to listen to it for the first time during the opening ceremony on April 14. Berberyan plans to present the music of the ceremony on his social platforms.
The anthem was written and arranged by Berberyan himself, and the lyrics by Grigor Kyokchyan. Aram Mp3 performed the anthem "To the Heights" at the event, and the video premiere of the song took place on April 15. The song managed to be loved by the audience.
It should also be noted that Andranik Berberyan is not first time to compose music for a large-scale project. In 2021, he wrote the song for the event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Armenia's independence, and in 2022, the music for the visual material for Armenia's participation in the Dubai Expo.
Let us remind you that Yerevan is hosting the European Weightlifting Championship. It is held on April 15-23.
