The National Center for Folk Music and Dance has new adress
The National Center for Folk Music and Dance is already operating at 30 Vardanants Street. The Government of the Republic of Armenia allocated this location to the center on December 27, 2024.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Daniel Danielyan, visited the National Center for Folk Music and Dance to get acquainted with the building conditions, the renovation and overhaul work, the creative processes, and the upcoming activities. According to Armen Sargsyan, Director of the National Center for Folk Music and Dance, since March 1, 2025, the administrative and organizational departments, as well as the ensembles - the State Orchestra of National Instruments and the "Akunk" Ensemble- have been operational in the renovated section of the center. The Deputy Minister toured the premises, met with the administrative staff, and inquired about how well the new conditions support their work activities. Afterward, the Deputy Minister attended a rehearsal of the "Akunk" Ensemble, after which the upcoming programs of the ensemble were discussed with the director and the creative staff, steps aimed at enriching, developing, disseminating and popularizing the repertoire.

As Daniel Danielyan emphasized, one of the key areas of the ministry's policy is Armenian folk art - music, song, and dance. “The Ministry attaches great importance to the development of the performing arts of Armenian traditional music, and it is at the core of our attention. It is essential to highlight educational processes and initiatives that can make the field more appealing. Together, we must strive to ensure that this center, renowned for its high quality and professional training, becomes a resource hub for other state and private groups and ensembles.” Addressing the educational and professional potential of young artists, the Deputy Minister underscored the significance of involving students and top graduates from the Department of Armenian Traditional Music at the Komitas State Conservatory in the creative endeavors of the center.

It is important to note that the National Center of Folk Music and Dance comprises the “Altunyan” State Ensemble of Armenia, the State Dance Ensemble of Armenia, the “Barekamutyun” State Ensemble of Armenia, the State Orchestra of National Instruments of Armenia, and the “Akunk” State Ethnographic Ensemble of Armenia.
