Spanish Pianist and Mathematician Laura Farré Rozada to Perform in Yerevan
The Armenian State Philharmonia has launched the Piano Concert Series, a new musical project aimed at bringing together acclaimed pianists from around the world and creating a unique platform for international musical dialogue in Yerevan. As part of the series, Spanish pianist and mathematician Laura Farré Rozada will present a solo recital on June 26 at 7:00 PM at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.

The program features works by Komitas (Yes Aghjik Em, Shushiki, and Back and Forth from the "Seven Dances"), Dimitar Nenov (Toccata), Alexander Spendiaryan (Elegiac Song from the "Crimean Sketches"), Claude Debussy (Prelude, Sarabande, and Toccata from Pour le piano), Gayane Chebotaryan (Prelude No. 6 – Allegro, Prelude No. 4 – Allegro grazioso, Prelude No. 1 – Andante), Alan Hovhaness (Folk Song No. 12, The Mystic Flute), and Arno Babajanyan (Impromptu).

Next day, June 27 at 5:00 PM, Laura Farré Rozada will deliver a public lecture on the relationship between music and mathematics.
Music is one of the most intuitive manifestations of mathematics. Yet despite growing interest in the connections between these two disciplines, they are rarely explored in a clear and accessible way. During the lecture, audiences will discover some of these remarkable connections through Laura Farré Rozada’s perspective, exploring how music and mathematics complement and enrich one another. Admission is free.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Laura Farré Rozada is distinguished not only as a pianist but also as a mathematician, recognized for her unique ability to build cultural bridges between different fields.

Recently, Laura released her third solo album, Araspel (2025), dedicated to Armenian music, which was awarded 16 prizes in the UK, USA and Spain, including Premi Núvol Cast@fiore 2025, Melómano de Oro 2026 and Premi Enderrock 2026. The repertoire is a constant dialogue between Armenian composers and authors from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Israel, France, Russia and the USA. Featuring works by well-known historical composers (Debussy, Babadjanian, Komitas); others being rediscovered (Nenov, Spendiaryan, Abramian, Bortkiewicz, Hovhaness, Stanchinsky); two female composers (Chebotarian, Amiryan) and a work commissioned from Israeli-American composer Ofer Ben-Amots, titled The Butterfly Effect (world-premiere recording).

Through the Piano Concert Series, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by internationally renowned soloists while experiencing diverse schools of piano performance, musical styles, and artistic approaches.
