"Armenian Gathering": Luc Baghdassarian to perform with NCOA
Swiss-Armenian conductor Luc Baghdassarian will perform in Armenia within the "Armenian Gathering" project by the National Chamber Music Center. the conductor will conduct the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia (artistic director and principal conductor: Vahan Mardirossian) at the Komitas Chamber Music Hall on December 23, at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature works by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, P. Tchaikovsky.
Luc Baghdassarian completed his studies at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève. He obtained a conducting diploma with Arpad Gerecz, the first prize for piano virtuosity in the class of Maria Tipo and the first prize for chamber music. As a pianist, he won the “Piano 80” prizes in Winterthur, Marescotti and De Agostini in Geneva, as well as three successive “Migros” scholarships in Zurich. With the Geneva Trio, he won first prize at the Stresa Chamber Music Competition and gave numerous recitals in Europe, Argentina and Canada. He forms a four-handed violin-piano duo with Florence von Burg. Since 2014 he is a Bösendorfer artist. In master classes, he works under the aegis of masters such as François-René Duchâble, Tatiana Nikolaïeva and Violette Breguet-Safarian. He performs as a soloist with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Geneva Symphony Orchestra. As a conductor, he perfected his skills in Austria, France and especially Italy with the late Carlo Maria Giulini. The latter proclaimed him the winner of the ten orchestral conducting competitions in Florence and invited him to perfect his skills with him in Milan until the end of 2004. He also won two international competitions in Grenchen/CH in 2002 and Vienna/A in 2005. He is a guest conductor with several renowned orchestras such as the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, the Orchestra del Lazio di Roma, the Orchestre Amadeus de Paris, the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bucharest Chamber Orchestra, the Cluj Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.

Earlier within the project, Syrian-Armenian conductor Misak Paghputarian and Canadian-Armenian conductor Nourhan Arman performed in Yerevan.
