“The Color of Pomegranate” Armenian-French Dance Performance Within Yerevan-Lyon Cooperation
The First Deputy Mayor, Acting Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan hosted the members of the artistic group of Armenian-French dance performance “The Color of Pomegranate” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergey Parajanov. Among the guests were the author of the project Sate Khachatryan, directors of the French theatres Tobogan and Gascogne Rafael Rimski-Korsakov and Antoine Gariel, the choreographer Murad Merzuki, scene designer Benjamin Lebreton, costume designer Edgar Manukyan.

The first-night performance will be held in January 2024. On March 15 and 16, the performance will be shown in Yerevan within the scope of the cooperation between Yerevan and Lyon sister cities. The main sponsor of Yerevan shows is Yerevan Municipality.

The project is implemented with the cooperation of the French Theatric Union “Sate-Atre”, “Pol An Scene” organization, NCO “The National Centre of Folk Music and Dance” and “Art-Image” cultural NGO.

The issues related to the performance, as well as further possible cooperation between the theatres of Yerevan and other theatres of Lyon were discussed at the meeting. The parties expressed confidence that the cultural project will strengthen the Armenian-French friendship and the interactions between the two cities. The French art figures expressed interest in cooperation with the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Armenia.
