Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 50-volume critical edition of the complete works in full score will be published in honor of his 150th anniversary. The Russian National Museum of Music joined the initiative. According to the press service of the museum, an agreement with the Russian music publishing house was signed on Friday.“Right now, on the eve of the big anniversary, we are pleased to announce the start of such an important project for the world music community as the publication of the first complete works of Sergei Rachmaninoff,” the director of the Museum of Music Mikhail Bryzgalov said. “We have a lot of work to do. And we hope to present all volumes of the piano series of the collected works, as well as the release of the first editions of the Second and Third Piano Concertos of Rachmaninoff in 2023.” Within the framework of the project, the museum of Rachmaninoff will provide the publishing house materials related to the composer. Specialists from both organizations, as well as leading experts studying the heritage of Rachmaninoff, will be involved in the project. The project launched in 2002 and 11 volumes of the edition are already published.
