The opening of the “Crossroads: Contemporary Music Days in Armenia” international festival to be held on May 24
On May 24 at 7:30 PM, the festival's gala concert, “Crossroads: Contemporary Music Days in Armenia,” will take place at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall. The concert will feature the festival’s resident Ensemble Assonance — the only ensemble in Armenia performing contemporary academic music. Ensemble members are Narek Avagyan (flute), Arsen Grigoryan (clarinet), Iveta Korkina (violin), Tereza Nacharyan (violin), Mikael Navasardyan (cello), Anahit Dilbaryan (piano), and Gayane Aslanyan (piano).

The program includes new works by young composers from six countries: Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Before the concert, the participants participated in the festival’s Young Composers Academy, held at the Edward Mirzoyan Composers Union's resort in Dilijan.   At the academy, participants attended seminars, improved their rapid composition skills, and took part in masterclasses led by composers Aram Hovhannisyan, Ruben Antonyan, and Sergey Umroyan.

This year, the festival celebrates its 9th anniversary. It is being held with the support of the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation for the second consecutive year. This is the first initiative in Armenia to receive support from the foundation.
