"Sister Schools" Program Concludes with Gala Concert in Yerevan
The final gala concert of the 2025 events of the “Sister Schools” targeted cultural education program took place at the Komitas Chamber Music House, attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Daniel Danielyan.
Around 200 students from Yerevan and the regions participated in the 2025 program. Musical ensembles composed of students from music and art schools performed a diverse concert program, presenting Armenian and international classical, folk, and contemporary works. The performances featured wind, string, vocal, and traditional instrument ensembles, among others.
The Deputy Minister welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude to the participating students, teachers, school directors, and parents, whose efforts turned this initiative into a true celebration.
“I am inspired to see that programs that once progressed with difficulty over the years are now becoming part of our daily life. Our goal is for this wonderful initiative not to remain an exception, but to become an integral part of our cultural life, giving us continuous opportunities to listen to and enjoy children’s performances. While the program is fundamentally focused on developing skills, it also carries deeper significance. It is a program of human connection, a unique platform where teamwork becomes visible. It is also important to highlight that within the framework of the program, exchange visits are organized, and students and educators from music and art schools collaborate through joint programs and performances. Masterclasses and educational visits are also conducted. The program plays an important role in ensuring balanced regional development in cultural education, providing systematic methodological support to music and art schools in the regions, as well as preserving traditions and ensuring their continuity,” noted the Deputy Minister, wishing the children continued success.
The “Sister Schools” targeted cultural education program has been implemented since 2019 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and on the initiative of the Yerevan Alexander Hekimyan Music School. Over its six years of activity, it has created an effective platform for cooperation and joint creative work between music and art schools in Yerevan and the regions.
The program was included in the list of measures under the Government of Armenia’s 2021–2026 program as a targeted initiative in the field of cultural education. During this period, more than 60 music and art schools, as well as around 4,000 students and teachers across the country, have benefited from it.
