Winners of theYKSC intra-university competition announced
An intra-university competition of the Orchestral faculty of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas was held on June 11-15 at the Conservatory dedicated to the chamber-instrumental music art. The competition was sponsored by the "Fund for Armenian Relief". Let us remind you that the Orchestral faculty already organized another intra-university competition in 2022 with the cooperation of this organization with the nominations of soloist performers of the String and Wind instruments.
This time nominations for Chamber-instrumental ensemble and String Quartet were planned. The competition was held in two stages. On June 11, the participants performed the works of Classicism and Romanticism; on June 14, they performed the works of Armenian composers. The minimum duration of competitive performances was set at 15 minutes.
The Committee Chair was the initiator and organizer of the competition, associate Professor Ruben Smbatyan, dean of the Orchestral faculty of YSC. The other members of the committee were the head of the Chamber-instrumental music chair, Professor Irina Badalyan, and another lecturer representing the same Chair, Julieta Vardanyan, as well as Tereza Nacharyan, the acting head of the Chair, and Narine Harutyunyan, another lecturer of the same department.
The closing and award ceremony of the competition and the concert with the participation of the award-winning students took place on June 15.
The speaker of the closing ceremony was R. Smbatyan. He mentioned that the competition focused on the students participation to incite and encourage them with Cash Prizes.
Eduard Karapetyan, the Deputy Director of the Armenian Branch of FAR, highlighted the long-term cooperation of their organization with the YSC, both in the framework of scholarships, competitions, and various projects. The participants were also welcomed by I. Badalyan and T. Nacharyan, mentioning the works carried out by the respective chairs and their results. Selected episodes from the competition performances were played in the concert section.
The 1st prize in the Chamber-instrumental ensemble category was shared between two groups: Andrey Courbet /bachelor, 4th year, piano/, Norayr Maghakyan /bachelor, 3rd year, violin/ and Henry Yerkanyan /bachelor, 4th year, cello/, ensemble leader: Professor Alisa Arzumanyan;
Avag Avagyan /master, 2nd year, clarinet/, Ivane Yesayan /bachelor, 2nd year, violin/ and Elen Harutyunyan /master, 1st year, piano/, ensemble leader: Professor Irina Badalyan.
The fund of the 2nd prize was distributed among the teams above.
3rd-year bachelor's students Aren Amiryan (piano), Mariam Gabuchyan (violin), and Ashot Gharibyan (cello) were awarded the 3rd prize, ensemble leader: Professor Irina Badalyan.
In the String quartet category, the 1st prize was shared by two ensembles:
Grigor Smorodinov /bachelor, 4th year, violin/, Norayr Maghakyan /bachelor, 3rd year, violin/, Heghine Abrahamyan /bachelor, 2nd year, viola/ and Ashot Gharibyan /bachelor, 3rd year, cello/, leader of the quartet: lecturer Tereza Nacharyan;
3rd-year undergraduate students: Svetlana Mikaelyan /violin/, Norayr Maghakyan /violin/, Nare Torosyan /viola/ and Anahit Shahinyan /cello/, quartet leader: lecturer Narine Harutyunyan.
